Agreed. Anyone will want more return then the returns from the safe investments like govt. bonds. But for yours investment plan you should set a goal about the retun you would like to have.

Say, I have set goal of annual 20% from my returns and with the Indian stock market in boom , it seems very easy target for this year.

Ideally it should be more than 7% .. because if it is less than that might as well i put my money in those govenment “guaranted” fund whereby i can enjoy min 7% return p.a ( as from past more than 10 yr histroy of return ) + yearly bonus as well !!

Principally, it is good idea to combine funda+techni analysis. But it difficult to follow the trends of market, as it never follows any principle.

I have bought a couple of books on technical and funamental analysis. But is really hard read.

BTW, what amount of return you expect from equity?

I invested in Malaysia stock market ..just started in early november this year .. too early .. to say..but strongly believe that with combination of fundamental analysis + correct technical analysis will give handsome return !!!!

Yes, stocks gives better returns in long term.
